Damon Salvatore is Stefan Salvatore's older brother. It is implied that Stefan and Damon have been alive for more than 145 years, and that there was a love triangle between Damon, Stefan, and Katherine. Katherine was in love with both of them and before she left town (and faked her death) she turned them (bit them before they died), but she still couldn't decide who she wanted to be with. But later (when she comes back) we find out that she always loved Stefan. Damon is cynical and likes to antagonize his brother. It's also stated that he and his brother haven't seen each other in 15 years and Damon saying somewhere along the lines "Nice haircut. The 90's grunge wasn't looking good for you." When Damon is back everything gets complicated. Stefan finds new love - Elena, who looks exactly like Katherine. That's why when Damon sees Elena for the first time, he falls in love with her too. Elena loves Stefan, but cares about Damon too. Further in the series Elena will care more about Damon after she discovers his affection for her. So, is our love triangle back after 145 years?

Stefan Salvatore
He is a
164-year-old vampire. Stefan was born and raised in the supernatural town
of Mystic Falls, Virginia and
currently resides at the Salvatore Boarding House.
He is the youngest son of Giuseppe Salvatore and his unnamed mother. He has
an older brother, Damon Salvatore, who is also a vampire and an unknown
half-brother. Stefan has had a love-hate relationship with Damon since 1864,
when they both fell in love with Katherine Pierce, the woman who turned them both into
vampires. Stefan's best friend was Lexi Branson. In the 1920s, Stefan had a brotherly friendship
withKlaus and is romantically involved with Rebekah Mikaelson. He is currently best friends with Caroline Forbes.
After many years away, Stefan returned to his hometown of Mystic Falls
Since then,
Stefan's life has been fraught with change and complications:
from falling in love and being with Elena to mending his complicated

Elena Gilbert In the set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls. In the books, Elena was blonde, popular, selfish and a "mean girl". Instead, her "dark side" didn't exist, and she was nice, relatable and "the girl next door".[1] Much of Elena's story revolves around her relationships with vampire stefan. It is revealed that Elena is a Petrova Doppelgänger, meaning she is identical to an ancestor, katherina patrova (née Petrova), making her a supernatural creature. Dobrev portrayed the "conniving" Katherine as well, who is opposite to Elena. The actress stated that it has been a challenge distinguishing the two, and enjoys playing them both. In the television series' season 4, Elena transitions into a vampire.

when mikeal asked his wife ester in the late 1000's to feed there kids vampire blood she refused so he got vampire blood and put it in the wine and he tricked them into a toast that night and when they drank it he put a sword though there hearts. they woke a half an hour later with a human with there father they were forced to drink.
but what mikeal didnt know that klas (niklaus) was not his son he was a hybrid. so he was a werewolf also

- Bonnie: Hold up, who's this?
- Elena: All I see is back.
- Bonnie: It's a hot back! I'm sensing Seattle and he plays a guitar.
- Elena: You're really going to run this whole psychic thing into the ground, huh?
- Bonnie: Pretty much.
- Elena: (about Matt) He hates me.
- Bonnie: That's not hate. That's, "You dumped me but I'm too cool to show it, but secretly I'm listening to Air Supply's greatest hits."
- Elena: People are going to stop giving you breaks, Jeremy. They just don't care any more. They don't remember that our parents are dead; they have their own lives to deal with. The rest of the world has moved on. You should try, too.
- Jeremy: I've seen you in the cemetery writing in your diary. Is that... is that supposed to be you moving on?
- Caroline: His name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with his uncle up at the old Salvatore boarding house. He hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini and his favorite color is blue.

- Zach: I can't tell you what to do. But coming back here was a mistake.

- Stefan: What are you doing here?
- Damon: I missed my little brother.
- Stefan: You hate small towns; they're boring, there's nothing for you to do.
- Damon: I've been keeping myself busy.
- Stefan: You left that girl alive tonight. That was very careless of you.
- Damon: Yeah, that could be a problem... for you.
- Damon: Is it working? Being in her world? Does it make you feel alive?
- Damon: I was impressed. I'll give it a six. Missing style, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very good with the whole face thing, it was good.
- Stefan: It's all fun and games, huh, Damon? But wherever you go, people die.
- Damon: That's a given.
- Stefan: Not here, I won't allow it.
- Damon: I take that as an invitation.
- Stefan: Damon, please, after all these years, can't we just give it a rest?
- Damon: I promised you an eternity of misery, so I'm just keeping my word.
